Job Title: Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
Job Summary:
The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) works under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist to help patients improve their ability to perform daily activities and regain independence. They assist in therapeutic activities and exercises, provide guidance on proper body mechanics, and help patients adapt to their environment to enhance their quality of life.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Implement treatment plans and interventions as directed by the Occupational Therapist
2. Monitor and document patient progress and effectively communicate with the therapy team
3. Assist patients with activities of daily living, mobility, and functional tasks
4. Collaborate with healthcare professionals to provide a comprehensive care plan
5. Maintain equipment and supplies, ensuring a safe and clean treatment environment
6. Educate patients and families on therapeutic techniques and exercises
7. Participate in continuing education to stay current on best practices and regulations
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Associate's degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant program
2. Current certification as a COTA by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy
3. State licensure or certification
4. Strong interpersonal and communication skills
5. Ability to work effectively in a team environment
6. Compassionate and patient-centered care approach
7. Physically able to assist patients with mobility and activities of daily living
