Job Summary:
A Speech Therapist is a healthcare professional who specializes in diagnosing and treating communication and swallowing disorders. They work with patients of all ages, from infants to senior citizens, to improve their ability to communicate effectively and safely.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assessing and diagnosing speech, language, and swallowing disorders
- Developing individualized treatment plans to address patients' specific needs
- Providing therapy to improve communication skills, including speech articulation, language comprehension, and fluency
- Conducting therapy sessions in individual or group settings
- Collaborating with other healthcare professionals, such as doctors, nurses, and teachers, to coordinate care for patients

- Staying current on advances in speech therapy research and techniques
Qualifications and Skills:
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology
- State licensure as a Speech Therapist
- Certification from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Patience and empathy for patients with communication disorders
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team
