Job Title: Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
Job Summary:
As a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA), you will work under the supervision of licensed occupational therapists to help patients regain and improve their ability to perform daily activities and reach their maximum level of independence. You will assist in implementing treatment plans, conducting assessments, and providing support to clients in a variety of settings.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Work closely with occupational therapists to develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients
- Assist patients with therapeutic exercises, activities, and interventions to improve their functional abilities
- Monitor and document patient progress, adjust treatment plans as needed, and communicate with the healthcare team
- Educate patients and their families on techniques and strategies to promote independence and improve quality of life
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care for patients
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in all interactions with patients and colleagues
Qualifications and Skills:
- Associate's degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant program from an accredited institution
- Current certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
- State licensure or certification to practice as a COTA
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Compassion, patience, and empathy towards patients
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Physical stamina and dexterity to assist patients with mobility and activities of daily living
