Job Title: Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
Job Summary:
As a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA), you will work under the direction of an Occupational Therapist to help patients improve their mobility and daily living skills. You will assist in developing treatment plans, implementing therapeutic exercises and activities, and documenting patient progress.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Collaborate with the Occupational Therapist to assess patient needs and develop individualized treatment plans.
2. Assist patients with therapeutic exercises and activities to improve strength, mobility, and coordination.
3. Provide hands-on assistance and support to patients during therapy sessions.
4. Document patient progress and communicate updates to the Occupational Therapist and other team members.
5. Educate patients and their families on therapeutic exercises and home care techniques.
6. Maintain a safe and clean therapy environment for patients.
7. Adhere to all regulations and guidelines set forth by the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) and state licensing boards.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Associate's degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant program from an accredited institution.
2. Current certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) through the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
3. State license to practice as a COTA.
4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
5. Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
6. Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care.
7. Basic computer skills for documentation purposes.
