Job Title: Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
Job Summary:
As a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA), you will work under the supervision of licensed occupational therapists to help individuals of all ages improve their ability to perform daily activities and reach their maximum level of independence. You will assist with the implementation of therapeutic exercises, providing hands-on therapy to patients, and documenting progress towards treatment goals.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Work closely with occupational therapists to develop and implement treatment plans
2. Assist patients with therapeutic exercises and activities to improve functional abilities
3. Provide hands-on therapy and guidance to patients during therapy sessions
4. Document patient progress and update treatment plans as needed
5. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care to patients
6. Educate patients and their families on home exercises and strategies to improve daily function
7. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional standards and ethics
8. Attend training sessions and continuing education to stay current in the field
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Associate's degree from an accredited occupational therapy assistant program
2. Current certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
3. State licensure or certification required
4. Strong interpersonal and communication skills
5. Ability to work effectively as part of a team
6. Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care
7. Strong problem-solving skills
8. Proficiency in computer and electronic medical record systems
