Job Summary:
A Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) works under the direction of licensed occupational therapists to provide therapeutic services to individuals with physical, mental, developmental, or emotional disabilities. They help patients develop, recover, and improve the skills needed for daily living and working.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Assist occupational therapists in developing treatment plans based on patients' needs and goals.
2. Provide therapeutic activities and exercises to improve patients' physical and cognitive skills.
3. Monitor and document patients' progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.
4. Instruct patients and their families on proper techniques for completing daily activities.
5. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as nurses and doctors, to ensure the best care for patients.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Associate's degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
2. Valid Certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA).
3. State licensure or certification as required by law.
4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
5. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
