Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our team. As a COTA, you will work under the supervision of occupational therapists to help patients improve their ability to perform everyday activities. Your role will involve assisting with therapy sessions, implementing treatment plans, and documenting patient progress to support their overall well-being and independence.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Assist occupational therapists with evaluations and assessments of patients' needs.
2. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the therapist.
3. Conduct therapy sessions to help patients improve their motor skills, coordination, and independence in activities.
4. Monitor and document patients' progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
5. Educate patients and their families on techniques and strategies to promote functional abilities.
6. Collaborate with the healthcare team to provide comprehensive care and support for patients.
7. Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and reports.
8. Adhere to ethical and professional standards in all interactions with patients and colleagues.
9. Stay current with best practices and advancements in occupational therapy to enhance patient care.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Associate degree from an accredited occupational therapy assistant program.
2. Certification as a COTA by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
3. State licensure to practice as a COTA.
4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
5. Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
6. Empathy and compassion for patients facing physical and mental challenges.
7. Good organizational and time management skills.
8. Knowledge of occupational therapy principles and practices.
9. Proficiency in using therapy equipment and techniques.
