Job Title: Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
Job Summary:
As a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA), you will work under the supervision of licensed occupational therapists to provide therapeutic treatments and exercises to help individuals of all ages improve their ability to perform daily activities and regain independence. You will play a crucial role in helping patients achieve their occupational therapy goals and improve their quality of life.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assist in developing and implementing personalized treatment plans for patients under the direction of the occupational therapist
- Conduct therapy sessions and activities to improve patients' motor skills, strength, coordination, balance, and endurance
- Teach patients how to use adaptive equipment and aids to enhance their daily functioning
- Monitor and document patients' progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care for patients
- Provide emotional support and encouragement to patients and their families throughout the therapy process
- Stay current on best practices in occupational therapy and participate in continuing education opportunities
Qualifications and Skills:
- Associate's degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant
- Certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
- State licensure to practice as a COTA
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Compassionate and patient-centered approach to therapy
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
