Job Title: Respiratory Therapist
Job Summary:
A Respiratory Therapist is responsible for evaluating, treating, and caring for patients with breathing or cardiopulmonary disorders. They work closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop treatment plans and monitor patient progress.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Conducting diagnostic tests to evaluate lung function
2. Administering medications and treatments to improve respiratory function
3. Providing emergency care to patients experiencing breathing difficulties
4. Educating patients on how to manage their respiratory conditions
5. Monitoring and adjusting mechanical ventilators
6. Collaborating with healthcare team members to coordinate patient care
7. Maintaining accurate patient records
8. Participating in quality improvement initiatives
9. Keeping up-to-date with advancements in respiratory care
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Associate's degree in Respiratory Therapy (Bachelor's degree preferred)
2. Certification by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
3. State licensure as a Respiratory Therapist
4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
5. Ability to work independently and as part of a team
6. Strong problem-solving skills
7. Attention to detail and accuracy
8. Physical stamina to handle the demands of the job
