Job Title: Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
Job Summary:
As a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA), you will work alongside licensed occupational therapists to help individuals of all ages improve their ability to perform daily tasks and activities. Your role will involve implementing treatment plans, assisting with exercises, and providing support to clients in various healthcare settings.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Collaborate with occupational therapists to develop individualized treatment plans
- Assist clients with therapeutic exercises and activities to improve motor skills and independence
- Monitor and document client progress and communicate with the therapist about outcomes
- Provide emotional support and encouragement to clients during therapy sessions
- Educate clients and their families on the use of adaptive equipment and techniques
- Maintain a clean and organized therapy environment
- Adhere to ethical and legal standards in occupational therapy practice
Qualifications and Skills:
- Associate's degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant program
- Certification as a COTA from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT)
- State licensure or certification to practice as a COTA
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a healthcare team
- Compassion and patience when working with individuals with physical or mental disabilities
- Knowledge of occupational therapy principles and techniques
