Job Title: Physical Therapy Assistant
Job Summary:
The Physical Therapy Assistant works under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist to provide rehabilitation services to patients with physical disabilities or injuries. They assist in implementing treatment plans, teaching patients exercises and stretches, and monitoring progress.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Assist physical therapist with evaluating patients and developing individualized treatment plans.
2. Instruct patients on exercises, stretches, and activities to improve mobility and reduce pain.
3. Administer modalities such as heat, cold, ultrasound, and electrical stimulation as directed by the therapist.
4. Monitor patient progress and document treatment sessions.
5. Assist with transferring and positioning patients safely.
6. Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
7. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Associate's degree from an accredited physical therapy assistant program.
2. Current state licensure or certification as a physical therapy assistant.
3. CPR certification.
4. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
5. Ability to work effectively as part of a healthcare team.
6. Physical stamina and strength to assist patients with mobility and transfers.
