Job Title: Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
Job Summary:
As a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA), you will work under the supervision of occupational therapists to help patients improve their motor skills, mobility, and independence in daily activities. Your primary goal will be to assist in providing customized therapy plans to enhance patients' overall quality of life.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Assist in evaluating patients' physical and mental abilities
2. Implement therapy plans as directed by occupational therapists
3. Guide patients through therapeutic exercises and activities
4. Monitor and document progress during therapy sessions
5. Educate patients and family members on at-home exercises and techniques
6. Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop comprehensive treatment plans
7. Maintain equipment and treatment areas in a clean and organized manner
8. Stay current on industry trends and best practices in occupational therapy
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Associate's degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant program
2. Certification as a COTA through the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT)
3. State licensure as a COTA
4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills
5. Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
6. Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care
7. Physical stamina and dexterity to assist patients with mobility challenges
