Job title: Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA)
Job Summary:
The Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) works under the direction and supervision of a licensed physical therapist to provide physical therapy services to patients. PTAs assist in implementing treatment plans, monitoring progress, and educating patients on therapeutic exercises and activities. They play a crucial role in helping patients regain physical function and improve mobility.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assist the physical therapist in evaluating patients and developing individualized treatment plans
- Implement treatment modalities as directed by the physical therapist, including therapeutic exercises, manual therapy, and modalities such as heat, cold, and electrical stimulation
- Monitor and document patient progress during treatment sessions
- Educate patients on proper techniques for therapeutic exercises and activities to be performed at home
- Assist with patient transfers and positioning during therapy sessions
- Maintain equipment and supplies used in physical therapy treatments
- Communicate effectively with patients, their families, and other members of the healthcare team
Qualifications and Skills:
- Associate's degree from an accredited physical therapy assistant program
- Current licensure or certification as a physical therapy assistant
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Physical stamina and dexterity to assist patients with mobility and therapeutic exercises
