Job Title: Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
Job Summary: As a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA), you will work under the supervision of licensed occupational therapists to help individuals regain their independence and improve their quality of life through occupational therapy interventions. You will assist in implementing treatment plans, conducting therapy sessions, and monitoring progress to ensure optimal outcomes for patients.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Assist in evaluating patients' functional abilities and limitations.
2. Help develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on patients' goals and needs.
3. Conduct therapy sessions and activities to improve patients' strength, mobility, and coordination.
4. Instruct patients in therapeutic exercises and activities to promote independence and recovery.
5. Monitor and document patients' progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.
6. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as occupational therapists and physicians, to provide comprehensive care.
7. Maintain a safe and clean therapy environment for patients.
8. Educate patients and their families on techniques for improving daily living skills.
9. Stay up-to-date on the latest advancements in occupational therapy practices and technologies.
10. Adhere to relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards in the delivery of occupational therapy services.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Current certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) from an accredited program.
2. State licensure or certification to practice as a COTA.
3. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
4. Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
5. Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
6. Compassion and empathy for patients facing physical or cognitive challenges.
7. Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
8. Physical stamina and dexterity to assist patients with mobility and daily living tasks.
9. Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and occupational therapy principles.
10. Experience working with diverse populations and age groups.
