Job Title: Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
Job Summary:
As a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant, you will work under the supervision of licensed occupational therapists to help individuals improve their ability to perform daily tasks and activities. Your role involves implementing treatment plans, assessing progress, and providing support to clients with physical, mental, developmental, or emotional challenges.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Assist occupational therapists in evaluating clients' functional abilities and limitations.
2. Implement treatment plans to help clients develop or regain skills for daily living and work activities.
3. Monitor clients' progress and provide feedback to the occupational therapist.
4. Teach clients how to use adaptive equipment and techniques to improve independence.
5. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care for clients.
6. Maintain accurate documentation of client progress and treatment interventions.
7. Provide emotional support and encouragement to clients and their families.
8. Stay current on best practices and participate in continuing education to enhance skills.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Associate's degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
2. Certification as a COTA by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
3. State licensure as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant.
4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
5. Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
6. Compassion and empathy for individuals facing physical or mental challenges.
7. Knowledge of occupational therapy principles and techniques.
8. Ability to adapt to changing environments and client needs.
