Job Title: Respiratory Therapist (NICU RT)
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Respiratory Therapist to work in our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The Respiratory Therapist will be responsible for assessing, treating, and caring for premature and critically ill infants with respiratory issues. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of neonatal respiratory conditions and the ability to provide advanced respiratory care to ensure optimal outcomes for our smallest patients.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Assess and monitor neonatal patients' respiratory status.
2. Administer respiratory treatments as prescribed by physicians.
3. Collaborate with the medical team to develop and implement respiratory care plans for NICU patients.
4. Perform diagnostic tests such as blood gas analysis and pulmonary function tests.
5. Educate parents on proper respiratory care techniques for their infants.
6. Respond to emergencies and provide respiratory support during resuscitation efforts.
7. Maintain accurate patient records and documentation of care provided.
8. Stay current on advances in neonatal respiratory care and participate in continuing education opportunities.
9. Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and hospital policies.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy.
2. Licensed Respiratory Therapist in the state of practice.
3. Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credentials.
4. Minimum of 2 years of experience in NICU respiratory therapy preferred.
5. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
6. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and high-stress environment.
7. Knowledge of neonatal respiratory conditions and treatments.
8. BLS and NRP certifications required.
