Job Summary:
The Physical Therapy Assistant is responsible for working under the supervision of licensed physical therapists to provide rehabilitation services to patients. They assist in carrying out treatment plans, monitoring progress, and educating patients on exercises and proper techniques.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Assist physical therapists in developing and implementing treatment plans.
2. Help patients with exercises and activities to improve mobility and strength.
3. Monitor and document patient progress during therapy sessions.
4. Educate patients on at-home exercises and techniques.
5. Assist with tracking and ordering supplies needed for therapy sessions.
6. Maintain a clean and organized therapy space.
7. Communicate effectively with patients and their families.
8. Adhere to all legal and ethical guidelines in the field of physical therapy.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Associate's degree in physical therapy assisting or related field.
2. Current CPR certification.
3. State licensure or certification as a physical therapy assistant.
4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
5. Ability to work well in a team setting.
6. Attention to detail and organizational skills.
7. Knowledge of basic anatomy and physiology.
8. Physical stamina to assist patients with exercises.
9. Compassion and patience when working with patients.
