Job Title: Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
Job Summary:
As a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA), you will work under the supervision of licensed occupational therapists to provide rehabilitative services to patients with physical, mental, emotional, or developmental impairments. Your primary goal will be to help clients regain independence and improve their quality of life through therapeutic activities and interventions.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Assist occupational therapists in developing individualized treatment plans for patients.
2. Implement therapeutic interventions, exercises, and activities to help clients improve their functional abilities.
3. Monitor and document patient progress, adjustments to treatment plans, and outcomes.
4. Educate patients and their families on therapy techniques and self-care strategies.
5. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as physicians, nurses, and social workers, to ensure comprehensive care.
6. Maintain equipment and supplies, ensuring a safe and clean therapy environment.
7. Attend team meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities to stay updated on best practices and techniques.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Valid certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA).
2. Associate's degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant program from an accredited institution.
3. State licensure to practice as a COTA.
4. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
5. Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
6. Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
7. Experience working with a diverse patient population.
8. Physical stamina and dexterity to assist patients with mobility and activities of daily living.
