Job Title: Speech Therapist
Job Summary:
The Speech Therapist is responsible for evaluating, diagnosing, and treating patients with communication and swallowing disorders. They work with individuals of all ages to improve their speech and language skills, as well as their ability to swallow effectively.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Conduct assessments to determine the nature and extent of speech and language disorders.
2. Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings.
3. Provide therapy to improve communication skills, articulation, fluency, language comprehension, and expression.
4. Help patients with swallowing difficulties by providing exercises and strategies to improve function.
5. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as doctors, nurses, and occupational therapists, to coordinate patient care.
6. Monitor and document patient progress, adjusting treatment plans as needed.
7. Educate patients and their families on strategies to facilitate communication and improve outcomes.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Disorders.
2. State licensure or certification from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
3. Clinical experience working with a diverse patient population.
4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
5. Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
6. Knowledge of current assessment and treatment techniques for speech and language disorders.
