Job title: Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
Job Summary:
As a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA), you will work under the supervision of licensed occupational therapists to provide treatments and interventions that help individuals improve their ability to perform daily tasks and activities independently. Your role will involve working with clients of all ages who have physical, mental, developmental, or emotional challenges.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Assist in the development and implementation of individualized treatment plans.
2. Provide therapy sessions to clients in a variety of settings, including hospitals, rehabilitation centers, schools, and clinics.
3. Help clients improve their motor skills, mobility, coordination, and sensory processing.
4. Teach clients new strategies for completing daily tasks and activities.
5. Document and report on client progress and treatment outcomes.
6. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as occupational therapists, physical therapists, and speech-language pathologists.
7. Educate clients and their families on how to carry out therapy exercises and activities at home.
8. Stay current on best practices and new developments in the field of occupational therapy.
9. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in all interactions with clients.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Associate's degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
2. Certification as a COTA by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
3. State licensure or registration as a COTA.
4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
5. Strong observation and problem-solving abilities.
6. Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
7. Compassion and empathy for clients with varying needs and challenges.
8. Physical stamina and dexterity to assist clients in therapy sessions.
9. Ability to adapt to changing environments and client needs.
