Job title: Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA)
Job Summary: The Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) works under the direction and supervision of a licensed physical therapist to help patients recover from injuries and illnesses. They assist with exercises, massages, and other therapeutic techniques to improve patients' mobility and alleviate pain. PTAs also document patient progress and communicate with the physical therapist to develop and modify treatment plans as needed.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Assist patients with therapeutic exercises and activities.
2. Perform therapeutic modalities such as ultrasound, electrical stimulation, and hot/cold packs.
3. Educate patients on proper body mechanics and exercises to improve movement and function.
4. Monitor and document patient progress and report findings to the supervising physical therapist.
5. Maintain a clean and organized treatment area.
6. Assist with scheduling and billing tasks as needed.
7. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and other healthcare providers.
8. Adhere to all legal and ethical standards set by the physical therapy profession.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Associate degree from an accredited physical therapy assistant program.
2. Current licensure or certification as a physical therapy assistant.
3. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
4. Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and therapeutic techniques.
5. Excellent communication and organizational skills.
6. Ability to lift and move patients safely.
7. Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
8. Basic computer skills for maintaining patient records.
