Job Title: Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
Job Summary:
As a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA), you will work under the supervision of licensed occupational therapists to help patients improve their quality of life by assisting with therapeutic activities and exercises. Your role will involve supporting patients in regaining independence in their daily activities, such as dressing, eating, and moving around their environment.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assist with the development and implementation of occupational therapy treatment plans
- Conduct therapeutic activities and exercises with patients to improve their physical and mental functions
- Monitor and document patient progress and report findings to the supervising occupational therapist
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to provide comprehensive care for patients
- Educate patients and their families on techniques for improving functioning and independence
- Maintain a safe and clean therapy environment for patients
- Stay current on occupational therapy best practices and continuing education requirements
Qualifications and Skills:
- Associate's degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant program from an accredited institution
- Valid certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
- State licensure to practice as a COTA
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care
- Physical stamina and dexterity to assist patients with therapy exercises
- Ability to lift and move patients safely
- Knowledge of occupational therapy principles and practices
