Job Title: Radiation Therapist
Job Summary:
The Radiation Therapist is responsible for administering radiation therapy treatments to patients under the direction of a radiation oncologist. They operate complex radiation therapy equipment to deliver targeted doses of radiation to cancerous tumors while minimizing exposure to surrounding healthy tissues.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Review and verify treatment prescriptions and patient charts
- Position patients for treatment and ensure accurate alignment
- Operate and maintain radiation therapy equipment
- Monitor and assess patient reactions to treatment and report any adverse effects
- Maintain accurate treatment records and ensure patient confidentiality
- Collaborate with radiation oncologists and other healthcare professionals to develop treatment plans
- Provide patient education and support throughout the treatment process
Qualifications and Skills:
- Associate's degree in Radiation Therapy or related field
- Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiation Therapy
- State licensure as a Radiation Therapist
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Attention to detail and ability to follow precise instructions
- Knowledge of radiation safety protocols and procedures
- Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
