Job Title: Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
Job Summary:
As a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA), you will work under the supervision of licensed occupational therapists to provide assistance and support to patients in rehabilitating and improving their ability to perform daily activities. Your role will involve implementing treatment plans, conducting therapeutic activities, and collaborating with the therapy team to help individuals achieve their therapeutic goals.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assist in assessing patients' functional abilities and limitations
- Implement treatment plans as directed by the occupational therapist
- Conduct therapeutic activities to improve patients' motor skills, coordination, and independence
- Provide feedback to the therapy team on patients' progress and outcomes
- Document patient progress and treatment interventions accurately and timely
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care for patients
- Educate patients and their families on therapeutic activities and exercises for continued progress
Qualifications and Skills:
- Associate's degree from an accredited occupational therapy assistant program
- Certification as a COTA by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT)
- State licensure to practice as a COTA
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Knowledge of occupational therapy principles and practices
- Experience working with diverse patient populations
