Job title: Occupational Therapist
Job Summary:
An Occupational Therapist (OT) is responsible for helping patients improve their ability to perform daily activities and regain independence after an illness, injury, or disability. They work with patients of all ages in a variety of settings including hospitals, rehabilitation centers, nursing homes, and schools.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Evaluate patient's physical, mental, and emotional condition to determine appropriate therapy goals
- Develop individualized treatment plans to address specific needs and goals of each patient
- Teach patients how to use adaptive equipment and techniques to improve their ability to perform daily tasks
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as doctors, nurses, and physical therapists, to provide comprehensive care for patients
- Monitor and assess patient's progress and make necessary adjustments to treatment plans
- Educate patients and their families about the importance of therapy and how to continue exercises and activities at home
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program
- Current state licensure as an Occupational Therapist
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively with patients of all ages and backgrounds
- Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy
- Experience working with patients with physical and mental disabilities
- CPR certification
