Job Title: Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
Job Summary:
As a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA), you will work under the supervision of licensed occupational therapists to help individuals of all ages improve their ability to perform daily activities and regain independence. You will assist in implementing individualized treatment plans and provide hands-on therapy to clients in various settings, including hospitals, rehabilitation centers, schools, and nursing homes.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Collaborate with occupational therapists to assess clients' needs and develop treatment goals.
2. Assist clients with therapeutic exercises, activities of daily living, and functional mobility tasks.
3. Provide emotional support and encouragement to clients during therapy sessions.
4. Document clients' progress and communicate with therapists and other healthcare professionals.
5. Educate clients and their families on adaptive techniques and equipment to maximize independence.
6. Maintain a clean and organized therapy area and equipment.
7. Stay current on best practices and professional development opportunities in the field of occupational therapy.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Associate degree from an accredited occupational therapy assistant program.
2. Active certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA).
3. State licensure or eligibility to obtain licensure in the state of employment.
4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
5. Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
6. Compassionate and patient-centered approach to client care.
7. Physical stamina to assist clients with mobility and physical activities.
