Job Title: Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our team. As a COTA, you will work closely with occupational therapists to provide rehabilitation services to patients recovering from injuries, disabilities, or illnesses. Your role will involve implementing treatment plans, overseeing therapeutic activities, and documenting progress to help patients achieve their goals and improve their quality of life.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assist occupational therapists in evaluating patients' abilities and creating personalized treatment plans
- Conduct therapeutic exercises and activities to improve motor skills, coordination, and independence
- Monitor and document patients' progress, making necessary adjustments to treatment plans as needed
- Educate patients and their families on adaptive techniques and equipment to facilitate daily living tasks
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care for patients
- Maintain a safe and clean treatment environment for patients
- Continuously update your knowledge and skills through professional development opportunities
Qualifications and Skills:
- Associate's degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant program
- Current certification as a COTA by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT)
- State licensure to practice as a COTA
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and colleagues
- Attention to detail and organizational skills to accurately document patient progress
- Physical stamina and manual dexterity to assist patients in therapy activities
- Compassion and empathy towards patients facing physical or mental challenges
