Job Title: Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
Job Summary:
The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) works under the supervision of licensed Occupational Therapists to provide rehabilitative services to patients with physical, mental, or developmental conditions. They assist patients in developing or regaining daily living skills and work with them to improve their overall quality of life.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Assist in developing and implementing treatment plans for patients as directed by Occupational Therapists.
2. Provide hands-on therapy to patients including exercises, activities, and functional tasks.
3. Monitor and record patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
4. Educate patients and their families on therapeutic exercises and activities they can do at home.
5. Help patients with daily living activities such as dressing, feeding, and grooming.
6. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
7. Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.
8. Stay current with best practices and new developments in the field of occupational therapy.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Completion of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
2. Current certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA).
3. State licensure or eligibility for licensure in the state of practice.
4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
5. Ability to work well in a team environment.
6. Strong problem-solving abilities.
7. Compassionate and caring attitude towards patients.
8. Physical stamina to assist patients with mobility and daily living tasks.
9. Attention to detail and organizational skills.
