Job Description

Job Title: Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)

Job Summary:

The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) works under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist to provide therapy services to individuals of all ages who are recovering from injuries, disabilities, or other health conditions. The COTA helps clients develop or regain daily living and work skills.

Responsibilities and Duties:

1. Assist in developing and implementing treatment plans based on the Occupational Therapist's goals.

2. Provide hands-on therapy to clients, including exercise programs, activities of daily living training, and adaptive equipment recommendations.

3. Monitor client progress and adjust therapy interventions as needed.

4. Document client progress and communicate with other healthcare professionals involved in the client's care.

5. Educate clients and their families on how to improve daily functioning and independence.

6. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in all interactions with clients.

Qualifications and Skills:

1. Associate's degree in Occupational Therapy Assistance from an accredited program.

2. Valid COTA certification from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).

3. State license to practice as a COTA.

4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

5. Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

6. Knowledge of healthcare laws and regulations.
