Job Title: Radiation Therapist
Job Summary:
The Radiation Therapist is responsible for administering radiation therapy treatments to patients as prescribed by a Radiation Oncologist. They work closely with other healthcare professionals to provide high-quality patient care and ensure treatment effectiveness and safety.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Reviewing and verifying physician's orders and treatment plans.
2. Positioning patients accurately for radiation therapy treatment.
3. Operating linear accelerators and other radiation therapy equipment.
4. Monitoring patients during treatment and assessing their physical and emotional responses.
5. Maintaining accurate treatment records and documentation.
6. Collaborating with Radiation Oncologists and Medical Physicists to ensure treatment accuracy.
7. Educating patients about radiation therapy procedures and side effects.
8. Ensuring patient safety and adhering to radiation safety protocols.
9. Participating in quality assurance activities and equipment maintenance.
10. Providing support and guidance to patients and their families throughout the treatment process.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Radiation Therapy.
2. Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
3. State licensure as a Radiation Therapist.
4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
5. Attention to detail and accuracy in patient care.
6. Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
7. Knowledge of radiation therapy equipment and procedures.
8. Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
