Job Summary:
As a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant, you will work under the supervision of licensed Occupational Therapists to provide rehabilitative services to individuals with physical, mental, emotional, or developmental impairments. Your role is crucial in helping clients regain their independence and improve their quality of life through therapeutic activities.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assist in the development and implementation of treatment plans based on patients' needs and goals
- Conduct therapeutic exercises and activities to improve clients' motor skills, strength, and coordination
- Provide support and guidance to clients as they work towards achieving their treatment goals
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care for clients
- Document clients' progress and communicate effectively with supervisors and team members
- Stay current with advances in occupational therapy practices and techniques
Qualifications and Skills:
- Associate's degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant program
- Certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
- State licensure or certification as required by the state of employment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Compassion and empathy for clients facing physical or mental challenges
