Job title: Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
Job Summary: As a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA), you will work under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist to provide rehabilitative services to individuals who have physical, emotional, developmental, or mental impairments. Your primary goal will be to help clients regain independence in daily activities and improve their quality of life.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Assist in developing treatment plans based on therapist's evaluations
2. Help clients with exercises and activities to improve motor skills and coordination
3. Teach clients how to use adaptive equipment and assistive devices
4. Monitor and document client progress during therapy sessions
5. Communicate with clients, families, and healthcare professionals regarding treatment plans
6. Maintain a clean and organized therapy space
7. Participate in team meetings to discuss client progress and therapy plans
8. Stay up-to-date on current trends and best practices in occupational therapy
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Associate's degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant program
2. Certification as a COTA by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT)
3. State licensure as a COTA
4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills
5. Ability to work effectively in a team setting
6. Compassionate and patient demeanor
7. Physical stamina to assist clients with therapy activities
8. Attention to detail in documentation and client progress tracking
