Job Title: Physical Therapy Assistant
Job Summary:
A physical therapy assistant works under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist to provide direct patient care, assist with rehabilitation exercises, and perform administrative tasks in a physical therapy setting. They play a crucial role in helping patients recover from injuries, surgeries, and illnesses by implementing treatment plans and monitoring progress.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Assist in conducting physical therapy sessions as directed by the physical therapist.
2. Instruct patients in therapeutic exercises and activities.
3. Use therapeutic equipment and modalities to assist in patient treatment.
4. Keep accurate records of patient progress and treatment sessions.
5. Communicate with patients, families, and healthcare providers about treatment plans and progress.
6. Maintain a clean and organized therapy area.
7. Assist in scheduling appointments and managing patient files.
8. Provide emotional support and encouragement to patients during their rehabilitation process.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Associate's degree in Physical Therapy Assisting or related field.
2. Certification or licensure as a Physical Therapy Assistant.
3. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
4. Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
5. Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and rehabilitation techniques.
6. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
7. Ability to lift and move patients as needed.
8. CPR certification.
9. Experience working in a healthcare setting is preferred.
