Job title: Physical Therapy Assistant
Job Summary:
The Physical Therapy Assistant will work under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist to provide rehabilitation services to patients suffering from injuries, illnesses, or disabilities. They will assist in developing and implementing treatment plans, conducting therapeutic exercises, and monitoring patient progress.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Collaborate with physical therapists to create individualized treatment plans for patients.
2. Assist patients with therapeutic exercises and activities to improve strength, flexibility, and mobility.
3. Monitor and document patient progress and communicate with the physical therapist to adjust treatment plans as necessary.
4. Educate patients on proper techniques for performing exercises and using assistive devices.
5. Administer modalities such as heat, cold, ultrasound, and electrical stimulation as prescribed by the physical therapist.
6. Assist with cleaning and maintaining therapy equipment.
7. Provide emotional support and encouragement to patients during their rehabilitation process.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Associate degree from an accredited physical therapy assistant program.
2. Certification or licensure as a physical therapy assistant in the state of practice.
3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
4. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
5. Physical stamina and strength to assist patients with exercises and activities.
6. Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and rehabilitation techniques.
7. CPR certification.
