Job Title: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
Job Summary:
As a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT), you will be responsible for evaluating, treating, and caring for patients with breathing disorders or cardiopulmonary conditions. You will work closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals to provide respiratory therapy interventions and support to patients of all ages.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Conducting patient assessments and developing appropriate treatment plans
2. Administering medications and treatments such as oxygen therapy and nebulizer treatments
3. Monitoring and adjusting ventilator settings for patients on mechanical ventilation
4. Performing diagnostic tests such as arterial blood gas analysis and pulmonary function testing
5. Educating patients and their families on proper breathing techniques and respiratory equipment use
6. Collaborating with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
7. Maintaining accurate patient records and documentation
8. Participating in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education activities
9. Responding to emergency situations and providing advanced respiratory support as needed
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Current certification as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
2. State licensure as a Respiratory Care Practitioner
3. BLS and ACLS certification
4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills
5. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment
6. Attention to detail and critical thinking skills
7. Knowledge of respiratory therapy equipment and procedures
8. Ability to prioritize and multitask effectively
9. Willingness to work rotating shifts and weekends as needed
