Job Description

Job Title: Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)

Job Summary:

As a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA), you will work under the supervision of licensed occupational therapists to provide rehabilitation services to patients who have physical, mental, or developmental impairments. Your primary goal will be to help patients regain independence and improve their quality of life through various therapeutic activities and exercises.

Responsibilities and Duties:

1. Assist in the assessment of patients' functional abilities and limitations.

2. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the occupational therapist.

3. Guide patients through therapeutic activities to improve motor skills, coordination, and range of motion.

4. Monitor and document patients' progress during therapy sessions.

5. Provide emotional support and encouragement to patients as they work towards their rehabilitation goals.

6. Educate patients and their families on adaptive techniques and equipment to promote independence.

7. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.

8. Stay current on best practices and trends in occupational therapy through continuing education and professional development.

9. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in all interactions with patients.

Qualifications and Skills:

1. Completion of an accredited occupational therapy assistant program.

2. Current certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA).

3. State licensure or eligibility for licensure in the state of practice.

4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

5. Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

6. Compassion and empathy for patients facing physical or emotional challenges.

7. Physical stamina to assist patients with mobility and therapeutic exercises.

8. Attention to detail and accuracy in documenting patient progress.

9. Knowledge of occupational therapy principles and techniques.

10. Commitment to maintaining professional standards of practice.
