Job Title: Respiratory Therapist
Job Summary:
Respiratory Therapists are healthcare professionals who specialize in providing respiratory care to patients with breathing disorders. They work under the supervision of physicians to assess and treat patients with conditions such as asthma, COPD, pneumonia, and other respiratory illnesses. Respiratory Therapists are responsible for administering oxygen therapy, managing ventilators, performing chest physiotherapy, and educating patients on proper breathing techniques.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assessing patients' respiratory health and conducting diagnostic tests
- Developing and implementing treatment plans for patients with respiratory disorders
- Administering oxygen therapy and monitoring patients' responses
- Performing chest physiotherapy and bronchial hygiene therapy
- Operating and monitoring ventilators in critical care settings
- Educating patients on how to properly use prescribed medications and devices
- Collaborating with physicians and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care
- Keeping accurate records of patient progress and treatment outcomes
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field
- Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credentials
- State licensure as a Respiratory Therapist
- Strong knowledge of respiratory anatomy and physiology
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Basic computer skills for electronic health record documentation
