Job Title: Radiation Therapist
Job Summary:
A Radiation Therapist is responsible for administering radiation therapy treatments to patients with cancer and other diseases. They work closely with medical radiation oncologists to deliver precise doses of radiation to target areas while minimizing damage to surrounding healthy tissue.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Reviewing patient charts and treatment plans to determine proper dosage and positioning for radiation therapy.
2. Operating and maintaining radiation therapy equipment, such as linear accelerators and CT simulators.
3. Positioning patients on treatment tables and ensuring proper alignment for accurate treatment delivery.
4. Monitoring patients during treatment to ensure safety and comfort.
5. Educating patients on treatment procedures and possible side effects.
6. Collaborating with other healthcare professionals, such as oncologists and medical physicists, to develop treatment plans.
7. Documenting treatment sessions and maintaining accurate patient records.
8. Following safety protocols and procedures to minimize radiation exposure risks.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Radiation Therapy.
2. Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiation Therapy.
3. State licensure as a Radiation Therapist.
4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
5. Attention to detail and accuracy in treatment delivery.
6. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
7. Knowledge of radiation therapy techniques and equipment.
