Job Title: Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
Job Summary:
As a COTA, you will work under the direction of a licensed occupational therapist to provide rehabilitative services to patients with physical, emotional, or mental disabilities, ensuring that they regain their independence and improve their quality of life. You will assess patients, develop treatment plans, and work with patients to accomplish their goals effectively.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Administer therapy treatments to patients under the direction of a licensed occupational therapist
- Create and implement personalized treatment plans that focus on patient needs and objectives
- Assist patients in performing therapeutic exercises and activities of daily living
- Observe and document progress and outcomes of treatments and report findings to the occupational therapist
- Provide education and support to patients and families, teaching them how to use adaptive equipment and devices
- Maintain accurate and complete patient records in accordance with state and federal regulations
- Collaborate with occupational therapists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals in interdisciplinary teams to ensure effective patient care and outcomes
Qualifications and Skills:
- Current certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
- Associate's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program
- Active license to practice as a COTA in the state of New York
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge and proficiency in using electronic health records and documentation systems
- Ability to work independently and within a team
