Job Title: Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our dedicated healthcare team. As a COTA, you will work under the supervision and guidance of licensed Occupational Therapists (OTs) to provide therapy services to individuals of all ages who are experiencing physical, developmental, or cognitive impairments. Your role will primarily involve assisting with the implementation of treatment plans, facilitating therapeutic activities, documenting patient progress, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Collaborate with Occupational Therapists to execute appropriate treatment plans designed to improve patients' physical, cognitive, and emotional well-being.
- Implement therapeutic activities, exercises, and interventions to enhance patients' functional abilities, motor skills, and independence.
- Monitor and document patients' progress and response to therapy, as well as any modifications or adjustments made to treatment plans.
- Provide individualized instruction and guidance to patients and their families regarding therapeutic techniques and activities to be continued at home.
- Assist with the training and education of caregivers, teachers, and other healthcare professionals involved in the patient's rehabilitation process.
- Support and promote patients' physical, mental, and emotional well-being through effective communication and empathy.
- Adhere to ethical and professional standards, maintaining patients' confidentiality and privacy.
- Maintain accurate and organized patient records, completing required administrative tasks.
- Stay updated on the latest advancements, research, and techniques within the occupational therapy field to provide efficient and effective care.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Graduation from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
- Current certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA).
- Valid state licensure or eligibility to obtain licensure as a COTA.
- Knowledge of occupational therapy principles, techniques, and theories.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and colleagues.
- Excellent observation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, as well as independently to carry out responsibilities.
- Proficient in using computer systems and electronic documentation systems.
- Commitment to continuing education and professional development.
