Job Title: Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our team. The COTA will be responsible for assisting occupational therapists in providing treatment to individuals with physical, emotional, or developmental challenges. As a COTA, you will play a crucial role in helping patients regain independence and improve their quality of life.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assist occupational therapists in assessing patients' functional abilities and goals
- Implement individualized treatment plans as directed by the occupational therapist
- Help patients develop or regain skills needed for daily living and working
- Guide patients in therapeutic activities and exercises to improve coordination, strength, and flexibility
- Teach patients how to use adaptive equipment and assistive devices to enhance independence
- Monitor patients' progress and document observations, treatment interventions, and outcomes
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to develop and modify treatment plans
- Provide emotional support and motivation to patients and their families
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in occupational therapy practices and techniques
- Adhere to all relevant legal, ethical, and professional standards
Qualifications and Skills:
- Valid certification as an Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
- Associate's degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant program or equivalent
- State licensure or eligibility to obtain licensure in the state of practice
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Empathy and ability to relate to patients of all ages and backgrounds
- Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities
- Physical endurance and ability to assist patients in various therapeutic activities
- Knowledge of various occupational therapy techniques, modalities, and adaptations
- Proficiency in documenting patient progress and maintaining accurate records
- Commitment to ongoing professional development
