Job Title: Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA)

Job Summary:

As a Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA), you will work under the supervision and guidance of licensed physical therapists to provide rehabilitative services to patients of all ages. Your role will involve helping patients regain mobility, improve functionality, and manage pain through various therapeutic techniques. You will contribute to the development and implementation of treatment plans, monitor patient progress, and assist in conducting assessments.

Responsibilities and Duties:

1. Assist in the design and execution of individualized treatment plans based on patients' needs.

2. Implement therapeutic exercises and activities to improve patients' range of motion, strength, and functional abilities.

3. Instruct patients on correct exercise techniques, proper body mechanics, and use of assistive devices.

4. Administer modalities such as ultrasound, electrical stimulation, and heat/cold therapy.

5. Help patients with gait and balance training, mobility devices, and prosthetic training.

6. Provide support and motivation to patients during therapy sessions.

7. Document patient progress, treatment outcomes, and communicate with the supervising physical therapist.

8. Educate patients and their families on injury prevention, self-care techniques, and home exercise programs.

9. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe therapy environment.

10. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.

11. Stay updated on advancements and trends in physical therapy practices.

12. Adhere to legal and ethical standards in all job-related activities.

13. Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and contribute to case discussions.

14. Attend professional development programs to enhance skills and knowledge.

15. Comply with HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality.

Qualifications and Skills:

1. Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program.

2. Valid state license or certification as a Physical Therapy Assistant.

3. CPR certification.

4. Strong passion for helping individuals improve their physical well-being.

5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

6. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

7. Proficiency in using therapeutic equipment and modalities.

8. Good physical stamina and the ability to lift, transfer, and properly position patients.

9. Sound understanding of anatomy, physiology, and kinesiology.

10. Strong observational and critical thinking abilities.

11. Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.

12. Flexibility to adapt to changing patient needs and work schedules.

13. Attention to detail and accuracy in documenting patient information.

14. Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) systems.

15. Continuous commitment to professional growth and development.
