Job Title: Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)

Job Summary:

The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) works collaboratively with Occupational Therapists to assist in providing therapy services to individuals of all ages affected by physical, mental, developmental, or emotional conditions. As a COTA, you will contribute to improving clients' daily living skills, promoting independence, and enhancing their overall quality of life.

Responsibilities and Duties:

- Assist in the implementation of individualized occupational therapy treatment plans under the guidance of an Occupational Therapist.

- Work closely with clients to guide them in therapeutic activities and exercises aimed at improving motor, sensory, cognitive, and psychological functions.

- Help clients develop or regain their abilities in areas such as dressing, bathing, grooming, eating, and coordinating physical movements.

- Collaborate with the Occupational Therapist to create and modify treatment plans based on clients' progress and needs.

- Record and document clients' progress, ensuring accurate and detailed reports.

- Educate and involve clients and their families in therapeutic activities and exercises to promote carryover and maximize treatment outcomes.

- Assist in the setup and maintenance of therapy equipment and ensure a safe and clean therapy environment.

- Stay updated with the latest advancements in occupational therapy techniques, technology, and legislation.

Qualifications and Skills:

- Valid certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA).

- Associate's degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant Program from an accredited institution.

- Successful completion of state-specific licensing requirements.

- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with clients, families, and other healthcare professionals.

- Strong observational and problem-solving abilities.

- Compassionate and supportive approach when working with individuals facing physical, mental, or emotional challenges.

- Ability to maintain accurate and detailed documentation.

- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, psychology, and therapeutic techniques.
