Job Title: Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
Job Summary: As a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA), you will work alongside licensed occupational therapists to provide direct patient care, helping individuals regain independence and improve their quality of life through therapeutic activities. You will assist in developing treatment plans, instruct patients on therapeutic exercises, and document patient progress.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assist occupational therapists in evaluating and treating patients with physical, developmental, or emotional challenges
- Implement treatment plans under the guidance of the therapist, including therapeutic exercises, activities of daily living training, and specialized interventions
- Provide hands-on assistance to patients during therapy sessions to improve mobility, strength, and coordination
- Document patient progress, outcomes, and any changes in condition in compliance with regulatory requirements
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to ensure a collaborative approach to care
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment, adhering to infection control protocols and safety standards
Qualifications and Skills:
- Associate's degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant program
- Certification as a COTA by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT)
- State licensure as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Compassion and empathy for patients facing physical and cognitive challenges
- Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate and thorough documentation
