Job Title: Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA)
Job Summary:
The Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) works under the supervision of licensed Occupational Therapists to provide therapy services to patients with physical, mental, or developmental disabilities. OTAs assist in implementing therapy plans, conducting evaluations, and helping patients develop and regain skills for daily living and work activities.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Assist Occupational Therapists in developing treatment plans and goals for patients.
2. Work directly with patients to perform therapeutic exercises and activities.
3. Provide emotional support and encouragement to patients during therapy sessions.
4. Monitor and document patients' progress and report findings to the Occupational Therapist.
5. Assist in educating patients and their families on techniques for improving motor skills and daily functioning.
6. Maintain therapy equipment and supplies, ensuring everything is in good working condition.
7. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure holistic patient care.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Associate's degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant program from an accredited institution.
2. Certification or license as an Occupational Therapy Assistant in the state of practice.
3. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
4. Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
5. Understanding of basic medical terminology and anatomy.
