Job Title: Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP) - Long Term Care (LTC)
Job Summary:
The Speech and Language Pathologist in Long Term Care (LTC) settings is responsible for assessing and treating residents with communication and swallowing disorders. They work closely with interdisciplinary teams to develop individualized treatment plans and provide therapy services to improve residents' quality of life.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Conduct assessments to evaluate residents' communication and swallowing abilities.
2. Develop and implement personalized treatment plans to address speech and language disorders.
3. Provide therapy services including speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing interventions.
4. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate care and treatment goals.
5. Educate residents, families, and caregivers on communication strategies and techniques.
6. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes.
7. Participate in team meetings and provide input on resident care plans.
8. Stay current on best practices and advancements in the field of speech-language pathology.
9. Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and ethical guidelines.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
2. Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
3. State licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
4. Experience working in Long Term Care (LTC) settings preferred.
5. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
6. Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
7. Proficiency in evaluating and treating communication and swallowing disorders.
8. Knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid regulations pertaining to speech therapy services.
