Job Title: Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP) - Long Term Care (LTC)
Job Summary:
As a Speech and Language Pathologist in Long Term Care facilities, you will be responsible for assessing and treating communication and swallowing disorders in elderly residents. Your main goal will be to improve the quality of life for these individuals by helping them regain their ability to communicate effectively and safely eat and drink.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Conduct comprehensive assessments of residents' speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing abilities.
2. Develop individualized treatment plans that address each resident's specific needs and goals.
3. Provide therapy sessions to improve communication skills, articulation, voice quality, fluency, and swallowing function.
4. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including doctors, nurses, and occupational therapists, to ensure coordinated care for residents.
5. Educate residents, family members, and caregivers on strategies to support communication and swallowing function in daily life.
6. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of treatment progress and outcomes.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology
- Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) preferred
- State licensure or eligibility for licensure in Speech-Language Pathology
- Experience working with geriatric populations in a long-term care setting
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
