Job Title: Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP) - Long Term Care (LTC)
Job Summary:
As a Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP) in Long Term Care (LTC) facilities, you will be responsible for assessing and treating patients with communication and swallowing disorders. You will work with residents in LTC settings to improve their communication skills, swallowing abilities, and overall quality of life.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Conducting comprehensive evaluations to assess communication and swallowing disorders in LTC residents
- Developing individualized treatment plans to address residents' needs and goals
- Providing therapy sessions to improve communication skills, swallowing function, and cognitive abilities
- Collaborating with interdisciplinary team members to ensure comprehensive care for residents
- Monitoring residents' progress and adjusting treatment plans as needed
- Educating staff, residents, and family members on communication and swallowing strategies
- Maintaining accurate and timely documentation of assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes
Qualifications and Skills:
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology
- Valid state license in Speech-Language Pathology
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA)
- Experience working with geriatric populations in LTC settings preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency in conducting evaluations and developing treatment plans
- Knowledge of evidence-based practices in speech and language therapy
