Job Title: Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
Job Summary:
A Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) works under the supervision of licensed occupational therapists to help patients regain independence and improve their daily living skills. COTAs assist in developing and implementing treatment plans to help individuals with physical, developmental, or emotional disabilities achieve their maximum level of functioning.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Assist occupational therapists in evaluating patients' needs and developing treatment plans.
2. Implement therapeutic activities and exercises as prescribed in treatment plans.
3. Monitor and document patients' progress during therapy sessions.
4. Provide guidance and education to patients and their families on at-home exercises and activities.
5. Help patients learn or relearn everyday tasks, such as dressing, eating, and bathing.
6. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care for patients.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA).
2. Associate's degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
3. State licensure or certification required.
4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
5. Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
6. Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care.
