Job Title: Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA)
Job Summary:
The Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) works under the supervision of an occupational therapist to assist in providing rehabilitative services to individuals with physical, mental, emotional, or developmental impairments. The OTA helps clients improve their daily living skills and regain independence through a variety of therapeutic interventions.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Assist occupational therapist in evaluating clients’ abilities and developing individualized treatment plans
2. Implement therapeutic activities and exercises to improve clients’ motor skills, strength, coordination, and balance
3. Provide guidance and support to clients on using adaptive devices and equipment
4. Monitor clients’ progress and adjust treatment plans as needed
5. Document client interactions and progress reports accurately and timely
6. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate care and achieve optimal outcomes for clients
7. Educate clients and their families on therapy techniques and home exercises
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Associate’s degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant program
2. State licensure or certification as an OTA
3. Strong communication and interpersonal skills
4. Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse population
5. Physical stamina and dexterity to assist clients with mobility and activities of daily living
